Styling Lots of Locks PDF Print E-mail

If you attended the Threads, Locks and Rock fashion show at Klusoz on Saturday night, or if you have viewed the pictures from the event, you’re probably wondering who styled the model’s hair. With so many models, one would assume that a team of hairstylists was involved in pulling off such a feat. Incredibly, only one stylist managed to create all the unique hair designs.

Lorrie Caballero of Salon Sculpt has styled hair for the last two Threads, Locks & Rock fashion shows. Inspiration for these outrageous styles comes in many forms, primarily the internet and magazines. Great ideas can also appear while strolling the aisles of Hobby Lobby.

Hobby Lobby you ask? On Saturday afternoon, I watched as Lorrie pulled out three Styrofoam balls and told a model she was going to put them in her hair. I also witnessed raffia, feathers and chains being incorporated into the hairstyles. I was puzzled at first by this unorthodox approach, but amazed by the end result that could rival hairstyles displayed at high fashion shows.

With no set plan for each model’s hair, she creates a different look on the spot for each model.

“This isn’t work for me, it’s something that I enjoy and it’s fun to be creative and try new things. Some days I may work 12 hours and it doesn’t feel like it because it’s something I love,” Lorrie stated.

Born and raised right here in Lubbock, she began working for TXDot while still in High School and continued working there for ten years. Wanting something more, she changed career paths which she states was “the best change I ever made.”

It was mere chance that presented Lorrie the opportunity to be involved in TLR when a model approached her about doing their hair for the show. Nobody was styling hair for the show at that time, so Lorrie approached Toshia Humphries, creator of TLR and got the job. Lorrie soon secured a spot on Toshia’s team and became part of Touch Productions.

Lorrie is also one of the few people in town who offers Hairdreams hair extensions, consisting of 100% healthy human hair.

Salon Sculpt is located at 2400 Glenna Goodacre and she can be reached at (806)577-7694. If you are feeling daring, give her a call for the wild do’s as seen in the pictures here. But if that’s not your style, don’t worry, she does normal cut/style/coloring too!
